Happy New Years! On to the next one 2011!!!

2010 is quickly folding into 2011,
A Day in Babylon has not been shut down!
We are living, breathing, thriving!
Thank you to all of those living their days in Babylon, for all those who visit us and pass on the positive vibes we try to send into the universe.

Part of our mission here at A Day in Babylon is to work on creating global unity through music, laughter, and love, while also projecting Universal Unity through the world wide web and Earth Satellite System. We believe Reggae music is a positive vehicle in bringing people together who are clouded by Babylon's systems. We offer our viewers a full cup of positivity, and hope at the least to get you the half cup full of happiness you deserve each day.

In less then a year since inception, we have reached Babylonians in:

The United States
Argentina
Denmark
South Korea
Australia
Latvia
Malaysia
South Africa
Canada
Iran

We wish you the most positive vibrations, as we go from 2010 to 2011, and on to the next one.

BIG C's: C-Danger! C-Money! Cee-Lo! CéU!

To quote his Twitter Bio C-Danger is:

" REGGAE ARTIST FROM SANDYS, BERMUDA.... Bun down si system, keep di fiyah burning!! well ah wha dem seh !! "

That fyah is blazing hot.

Speaking of C's, Don't forget about San Diego's favorite ese loco, Stoopid's own, C-Money!!! He gets irie too.

Track features Dre Gipson of Fishbone!

Cee-loooooo. Talk about some C-Notes, this guy is cleaning up, and not lacking the smiles! What a positive story for this hardworking big green man!

Last but not least, the sexy modern sensual sounds of stunner CéU straight from Brazil. Sexy time music.

Don't give up the fight! with the Prison Break Riddim

Blessings to all those around the world, wrongfully imprisoned for crimes they did not commit, for protecting free speech and human rights, for the lost innocent, Stay Positive!

Some tracks off the Prison Break Riddim.

Bob says, "Don't give up the fight."

Before the next post...Put a smile on your face!

After reflecting its always good to stay positive and look on the bright side

...And this is how they do it in Cali...

Just remember...Don't Worry... Be Happy!!!

Domo Arigato...

And now the real thing, this one always does it, the real OG version...the best by far...Bobby McFerrin, a true Master...

The Flood (Parental Advisory) Reflections

Quick reflection.

There is a lot of talk about the end of the world, prophecies coming to light, 2012. They are all wrong and you have nothing to worry about. I say it is no end, but there will be a reawakening of the human spirit..it might be going crazy...in a positive way...Cue Marley Segue...

And that brings me to the spiritual portion of todays reflection:

When Jah speaks of the flood to wipe away babylon,
what kind of flood is he really talking about?

Preacher man says...
Is it a flood of water?

Teacher man says...
Is it a flood of pestilence?

A day in babylon man says...
Maybe it's a flood from beyond babylon....

It's something Irie...

Perhaps it's A flood of the people...a flood of ideas...a flood of freedom...

Well, if Preach is right and it ends up being a flood of water, here's a modest simulation of what life would be like after the flood. The cup is half full!

Wait what!? Waterworld? Helllll no, WE ARE human beings, and you know what that means, WE AIN'T GOING OUT LIKE THAT!

Apologies to those scared by today's reflections. Earth is constantly changing and it's good to be aware and prepared for any situation Jah sends our way. You could always just stay Stay High....

Party in Session by Black Uhuru, great track choice.

hmmmmmm.......Still Stressed?........ Relaxxx...Deep breaths in, Deep Breaths out, innnn, outttt....

The Marleys

So we've covered the legend of Bob Marley, his son Jr. Gong recent expedition with Mr. NAS, we've covered Juju Julian Marley, and even Marley from Rebelution. So let's not leave out some other great Marleys, Bob's son Kymani, and Stephen also are extra talented. These genes did not skip a beat. And lets not leave out Ziggy, Rita, and the other Marleys in the family. Ziggy from Reggae Sunsplash '83 to the White House '09, One love progress.

Brass

This is legit. 2 legit to quit.

I love Michael Rose (Mykal Rose)

Michael Rose may love King Sellassie, but I love Michael Rose.

I like this song I just came across too, pretty weird but a classic Mykal Rose scat,

That time of year...

It's that time of year, to hold your loved one tight, lighting that passion fire, loving one another through the Winter Chill...Unless you're living tropical...that's you Hawaii...And if you don't have that loved one to squeeze through the New Years, well...Stay Positive!

Instant Irie Classic

Thanks to Junior Marvin for the find! Pretty Positive stuff from Mr. Survivalist! There's just something about this video. Can you put your finger on it? Bless up Boom Fire Babylon!

Friday, August 27, 2010

There's something about this video..

I don't know, Madonna Reggae Cover, happy school girls being serenaded waterhouse style by a dreadlock rasta, I guess I would say this is pretty Positive stuff. There's no doubting there's a lot of love in that room. No doubting. No Doubt.

Speaking of No Doubt...

She's so cute, i'd tune in for a 2nd song.

And so you don't think i've lost my edge...Since it is friday in most of the time zones of Babylon, have a great weekend, fight the forces, chai18 love life, have freedom, bless the world with your gifts. Wipe away the evil and feel righteous.

Andres Torres

Those unfamiliar with Andres Torres, he is a baseball jugador for the San Francisco Giants. Not only can this guy play the game right, he is a top step guy, always cheering on his team from the top step of the dugout, giving 110 % and being the most positive player in the Major Leagues. Big ups to Andres and his MVP season, to honor him I post his coming to the plate music here for your enjoyment, get FIRED UP!!!

Nature

I've given a number of shout outs in this premiere year of 'A day in Babylon' positivity blog. This may be the most important. Mother earth, nature, I love you. We need you, healthy, strong, forever. Its always great to take a break from a day in the concrete jungle (aka babylon) and surround yourself with nature, be it a weekend getaway, or an hour in a local park. What is more positive then a sunny day surrounded by trees?

Note: Try playing Video 1 on Mute and Video 2 on full blast at the same time! :)

Mother Earth...

Pato!

Pato Banton is positivity. Through the decades Pato has kept us Irie, Positive, and off Cocaine. Pato is my ambassador of Irieland.

Guyana

Tarrus Riley, an under appreciated mega-reggae-superstar who is one of the most positive and conscious performers out there today, brings his style to Guyana. A little 'Love's Contagious" and MJ's 'Human Nature' is the perfect prescription for this packed arena. Great energy!

Get in the mood, feel the groove, welcome to the players club...

NAS and JR. GONG

Very Quality Sound on Tour Now. Super positive crowd, super positive vibe! Distant Relatives Tour at the Fox Theater in Oakland, probably the best place this duo could possibly play with their ten-person backing crew. Best audience around.

RIP RONNIE JAMES DIO :(

Oh man, this is a positivity blog. But a week ago Dio was in my thoughts, struggling from Stomach Cancer. And on Sunday he died. Man, I am bumming, but we have to look at the great things Mr. Dio brought to humanity. Man its just eerie to post about someone and then they die, not positive at all. But hey, just a reminder how fragile life is and we should cherish everyday we are given. RIP DIO, you brought us joy, and inspiration. You will never be forgotten. Cheers to Dio!

Feel Better Mr. Dio

This video currently at 1.2 million hits on youtube, is reason for its positivity alone. I put this out there so we all put positive vibes out in the universe for Ronnie James Dio who is suffering right now. Feel better Ronnie and we'll be there for your comeback tour!

To my pal Diz

Hey Diz, this is for you, stay strong in babylon, you shall overcome!

mmmmmhmmmm mmmmmm...

Wish this was on every street corner of every city of babylon...fight the forces...

Need more food for thought? Keep it on the Positive with some old Peas for ya...

These two songs would make a pretty positively irie mash up ay?

While I have your attention...let's get real..

Mr. Positivity himself, listen to him preach. Get some clarity for your life, keep it positive, survive, free yourself from mental slavery, free yourself from babylon. watch and learn from a master. love.

I love his kid on the keyboard, beautiful.

Russian Reggae?

This is an interesting one... Feeling the Guitar solo in the first minute before the Ms. starts talking. Close your eyes and you wouldn't know if it is a bunch of jamaicans, or glammed russians. This vintage '85 Roskilde Denmark set still has a current message. Big ups for her courage to find a solution. I guess '85 is technically still the cold war. It's 2010 still feels like a cold war out there. Hey, this is pretty funky nonetheless and definitely a positive stab against the worlds nations use of A-bombs, very relative to our plight here everyday in bablyon. Nuclear warfare is not positive, Peace is. If a hipster ever talks shit about reggae, just point them here, and maybe they will be enlightened by the roots.

And now for some real Russian Reggae straight from the St. Pete Scene...

Shining Positivity

Came across this Aswad video by coincidence of the universe and though it was so positive I couldn't help but share.
Been a day filled with positive signs, and the power of each individual to make a positive life for themselves. I like this video, it has a lot of beauty in it, and a beautiful message.

This also is dedicated to a certain person living in babylon today and their accomplishments. You know who you are :) PEACE!

Dreams of Africa...

I've been dreaming of Africa lately, straight and simple. A friend was telling me about his African experiences. It sounds like a tough place. A land of kingdoms. A land of many people. A land of many different tongues, unstable, yet with beauty.
One sound comes to mind that sings true...

More Poles getting Irie!!! VAVAMUFFIN!

Fire babylon, rarely will I post twice in a day, but you learn something everyday about this world we live in, and I am on the Polish Reggae hype right now. Vavamuffin, Polish Reggae sensations, these guys are positive. Bringing it factor I give them a 9, Irie factor giving them a good hard 10 for reppin' it hard in Poland, very collie. They have opened my eyes even further to a positive world outside my babylonian borders. Big Ups Poland or Duży Wysoki Polska!

Some Positive Poles!

Even the Poles know a thing or two about living a day in babylon I guess. Hopefully the youths are changing the former nasty ways of this country. Stumbled across this video, 300,000 Poles gettin' irie. If thats not a sign of positivity, then I don't know what is. Really, right? So positive, I can't believe it. I guess we can learn from the Pole's that reggae is indeed an entity of the world, and lives strong through babylon. Stay Irie Poles!

If anybody can translate, we the people of a day in babylon in English speaking countries, would love to know what the positive chants translate too. Feel free, to translate in French, Spanish, obviously not Polish, Chinese, and other languages for the people living a day in babylon. Thanks and Praises.

Passing of a Legend

Sad day when we lose a legend, and skilled master of the arts. Talk about a guy who never gave in to babylonian forces, rock n' roll photographer Jim Marshall did it right, and we truly be missed. He passed away yesterday at the age of 74. A true master. RIP.

Blaze Mob

Whoa! Been away from the blog, and on the road spreading the positivity around the West Coast of America. Caught these guys last night, son of a black uhuru, rising stars in reggae, Blaze Mob with roots from Jamaica. Check them out, feeling this song, it's all positive, especially when you're singing about Marcus Garvey. Bless!

Monday, March 1, 2010

It's March, 14 days till more daylight!

14 days from today we will have more light, and more joy. Babylon's daylight savings is over, and citizens can enjoy the extra daylight that will permeate their skin and brew positivity in their minds. Oh it is a glorious time. In honor of daylights savings, and 14 days till more sunlight here in the West Coast, I want to share with you a video that did not make the Babylonian rounds of mainstream media. This shining light, clouded in the darkness of babylon is the extraordinary island of Cuba in the Caribbean Sea. The will of these people shall brighten any day in Babylon. See beneath this recent concert for peace, where hundreds of thousands of Cubans came together to celebrate this concept of peace.

Inspiration

Reggae Music spans generations. It inspires, guides, protects, and most importantly stresses the importance of its Roots.

Don Carlos, former member of legendary reggae band Black Uhuru and international reggae superstar has been spreading positive messages for over 5 decades.

Rebelution is a modern California Reggae band started in the mid-2000's out of Santa Barbara's Isla Vista largely Student Community. Lead singer Eric Rachmany credits Don Carlos as one of the musicians who influenced and inspired him the most coming up as a youngster in San Francisco.

From California to Poland Reggae music unites and embraces the "one love" mentality. Here we have a legend singing his classic to adorning fans, and relatively newcomers giving respect, and sharing their musical roots to a new generation of reggae lovers. Very positive.

Loving Everyone

I wanted to share with the universe an enlightening story involving two of the most positive figures in Music History, Andrew WK, multi talented musician and new-age motivational performer, and old-school reggae heart-throb and lover of the universe Lee "Scratch" Perry, a true Ras of reggae met during an interview. The two had a very positive connection and Mr. WK went on to produce an album for Ras Perry in 2008 entitled, 'Repentance.' Keeping the positive vibrations flowing, Below 3 videos are an example of what can be created when the universe brings 2 unique positive beings together.

In Honor of Bob

February is the birth month of Mr. Robert Nesta Marley, Bob would have been 65 this year. This video a tribute to his legacy. Babylon will say Reggae is not a force, but its video's like this that open the mind. and fill it with positive vibrations. This video takes place in Brazil, and shows thousands of portuguese speaking Brazilians chanting the words of an English Speaking Jamaican man, nearly 20 years after his babylonian departure. World Peace. One Love.

Michael Rose Tonight

Going to see Michael Rose Tonight, this video is so sweet. Michael Rose is reggae royalty. After winning a grammy in the 80's with Black Uhuru he retired to the Mountains of Jamaica to grow coffee. He is a special man. He also spells his name Mykal to honor his African Roots. The album Warrior Dub is one of my favorite albums outside of his Uhuru work. Very positive stuff.
